India is a Party to the Montreal Protocol since 1992 and has been implementing phase-out of production and consumption of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODSs). The phase-out of Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) is ongoing as per the accelerated phase-out schedule of HCFCs under the Montreal Protocol. The HCFC Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP) is being implemented in the country. Under HPMP Stage-II, UNEP is implementing the Enabling activities under which there is a component related to study on Building Sector in India with focus on non-ODS and low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants.
In this regard, Ozone Cell, MoEF&CC has awarded a study on the application of non-ODS and low GWP alternatives in Building Sector in India to Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE). The objective of the study is further adoption of non-ODSs, low GWP and energy efficient alternative in Building Sector in India. M/s AEEE has now submitted a draft study report on Passive & Low Energy Cooling Strategies for Achieving Thermal Comfort in India’s Upcoming Affordable Housing.
Ozone Cell, MoEF&CC in association with AEEE is conducting a webinar on “Study report on Passive & Low Energy Cooling Strategies for Achieving Thermal Comfort in India’s Upcoming Affordable Housing” on 30th November, 2021 at 11.00 AM. The webinar aims to present the findings of the study and seek to finalize the key recommendations drafted in Building Sector in terms of energy-efficiency, non-ODS and low GWP refrigerants. The event aims to engage stakeholders from the line ministries/departments, consultants/architects and representatives from Industry associations to lay emphasis on the application of non-ODS and low GWP alternatives in Building Sector in India.
