Our research work focuses on reducing industry dependence on fossil fuels and exploring alternative options of low or zero-carbon fuels. There is a range of promising low-carbon alternatives like electrification of heat by switching to zero-carbon electricity (produced from renewables), zero-carbon hydrogen as a substitute for fossil-based non-electric energy demand, and sustainably produced biomass as a feedstock and fuel source. Our goal is to assess the feasibility of switching key industrial processes to clean fuels and evaluate the technical, economic, and environmental feasibility of fuel switching technologies.
