Bureau of Energy of Efficiency (BEE), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy are hosting the side event – “Cooling the Cities of Future,” during the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial and 8th Mission Innovation meeting (#CEM14/MI-8), on 22 July 2023, in Goa.
During this event, we will also unveil the District Cooling Guidelines, which have been developed as part of the EE Cool Project. The project Energy Efficient Cooling (EE-Cool) is a bilateral project which is being carried out by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, India.
District Cooling Systems (DCS) offer a modern and efficient method for air-conditioning clusters of buildings in cities, commercial and real estate establishments, industrial parks, and educational campuses. The District Cooling Guidelines will serve as an informative handbook for various stakeholders, including state and city development authorities, developers, and investors. It provides a comprehensive reference on implementing district cooling systems and offers a roadmap for facilitating DCS adoption in India.
The Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE), with KPMG India and UNEP have been instrumental in driving this project forward as the Project Management Unit (PMU), overseeing all significant research and knowledge outputs.
