Shivani Shukla

Senior Research Associate

Bringing extensive experience in disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, and sustainable development, Shivani has worked on multi-hazard risk assessment and disaster recovery projects with national and international organisations, including DHI Singapore, the Government of Uttarakhand, and Caritas India. She has also served as a guest scientist at the University of Potsdam, Germany. Shivani specialises in participatory risk-resilient planning frameworks for sustainable hill habitats, multi-hazard risk assessment, and disaster recovery strategies. Her research and consultancy work focus on integrating climate resilience and sustainable development into disaster risk management. She holds a PhD from IIT Roorkee, where her doctoral research focused on participatory risk-resilient planning frameworks for sustainable hill habitats. She has an impressive publication record in esteemed journals such as NHESS, IJDRR, and IJDRBE. Beyond her professional achievements, Shivani enjoys graphic design, singing, travelling, and exploring mountains.
