Upendra is a strategy, public policy, and sustainability professional. At AEEE, he has a multi-sectoral and cross-functional role as Manager – Strategic Initiatives, aligned with the office of the President/Executive Director. Earlier, he worked in a management consulting role at Deloitte to deliver strategy, transformation, and M&A projects for global Fortune 500 clients with US, Europe, and APAC teams. In public policy and government sector work at PwC, he also worked with central and state governments alongside multilateral donor agencies such as ADB, WB, and FCDO. The work often concerned sustainability, climate change, and MSMEs/Startups. Upendra has also worked with a waste and circular economy start-up, TrashCon, where he led strategy and growth assignments with the CEO.

His education has primarily been interdisciplinary. Having graduated with a Master of Public Policy (MPP), Upendra is an alumnus of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and the National Law School of India University (NLSIU). His interests beyond work include writing, sports and fitness, Shastriya Sangeet, and dialectics.
