How energy efficiency and thermal comfort can enhance the livability and affordability of affordable housing.
October 28,2020 | 04:00 – 06:00 PM IST
The Housing for All mission presents a unique opportunity for India to promote action-oriented leadership in energy efficiency in the affordable housing sector, which has thus far not been exploited. The housing built today will stay in our cities for the next 30-40 years at least. Today’s decisions will impact the level of thermal comfort that these dwellings provide to its occupants and the energy use, costs, and associated carbon emissions over the lifetime of the building. Thus, it calls for a multidisciplinary approach to make the upcoming built stock “future-ready,” which would enhance the occupants’ thermal comfort and enhance the lifecycle affordability of the dwelling unit.
In collaboration with the Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN), AEEE is organising a webinar on Facilitating Eco-Niwas Samhita Implementation in Affordable Housing in India and would like to invite you to join us on 28th October 2020 at 4:00-6:00 PM IST. It will be an opportunity to reunite stakeholders to share their experiences and to discuss their thoughts on the report titled “Formulating a Policy Strategy for Decarbonizing the Building Sector: Facilitating the implementation of Eco-Niwas Samhita in Affordable Housing” in Ahmedabad, which will be presented during the webinar.
Representatives from government agencies, academia, civil society organisations and private developers will share their perspective on enhancing thermal comfort and energy efficiency in affordable housing. The webinar is structured as a report launch, panel discussion followed by a Q&A session.
The webinar agenda will cover:
- The incorporation of ENS in ULB’s urban development plans, smart city vision, building bye-laws and other legislative processes.
- The need for incorporation of energy efficiency and thermal comfort parameters in PMAY-U.
- Role of energy efficiency and thermal comfort in enhancing the livability and affordability of affordable housing.
