AEEE's Recommendations and Comments on Draft CERC Regulations, 2021

Ancillary services are necessary to ensure the secure and reliable operation of the grid. Moving towards procurement of market-based ancillary services is a highly welcoming step by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) as it will facilitate transparency in price discovery for all the participants. Furthermore, the inclusion of energy storage and demand-side resources to participate in the ancillary services (secondary and tertiary) mechanism will encourage new pathways to extend the value proposition from Demand Response (DR) and Demand Flexibility.
