State Energy Efficiency Index 2025

The State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI), a flagship initiative of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency in collaboration with the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy, is a comprehensive framework for benchmarking energy efficiency across Indian states and UTs. Since its launch in 2018, it has evolved into a strategic governance tool that strengthens state-level data systems, enables consistent tracking of energy use, and supports data-driven decision-making through peer learning and constructive competition.
Now in its 7th edition, SEEI 2025 highlights leading state-level innovations while offering actionable insights to accelerate policy adoption, implementation, and performance tracking across India.
What’s new in SEEI 2025?
With 67 indicators across 7 key demand sectors, including Buildings, Industry, Municipal Services, Transport, Agriculture, DISCOMs, and cross-sectoral initiatives, the Index reflects India’s evolving energy priorities. From ESCO models and building star ratings to MSME cluster profiling, PAT expansion, EV demand-side incentives, and DISCOM-led demand-side management, SEEI 2025 captures the next phase of energy efficiency in action.
