BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) is a joint venture between Reliance Infrastructure Limited and Govt of NCT of Delhi with a 51%:49% shareholding. BRPL, along with its sister company BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL), supplies electricity to two-thirds of the national capital. It has brought about a record reduction in AT & C losses – from 51.5% in 2002 to ~ 7%.
Panning a geographical area of around 700 sq kms, BRPL is the largest of the three private distribution companies (discoms) in Delhi. The company supplies electricity to around over 27 lakh customers, covering a population base of over one crore in South and West Delhi.
Managing this mammoth and complex network is a dedicated and a highly skilled workforce of around 10,000, which works round-the-clock to ensure reliable power supply. Contributing to around 43% of Delhi’s power supply, BRPL has helped Delhi meet its highest ever peak power demand of 7409 MW. In its license area, the discom met an-all time high peak power demand of 3211 MW.
Committed to sustainable growth, BRPL has been aggressively pushing solar and renewables. By FY 23-24, over 50% of BRPL’s power portfolio will be green, making it one of the greenest discoms in the country. Moreover, with the help of innovative programs like ‘BSES Solar City Initiative’, the discom has energized over 3000 (>92 MWp) solar roof-top net metering connections in its licensed area.
BRPL lives and work in perfect harmony with the communities and actively contribute to the growth of the society. Its CSR programs are designed to make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged citizens in its license area. It has positively impacted the lives of around 7 lakh (and counting) beneficiaries in South and West Delhi.
