Wishing you all a peaceful and energy efficient 2017!
In the aftermath of the historic climate deal in Paris and Montreal Protocol Amendment (HFC Phaseout) in Kigali, it is clear that all countries, including India, will be laying significant emphasis on decarbonisation of the economy by reducing their energy intensity (Mtoe/GDP). This offers a golden opportunity for companies to scale up their businesses by offering energy-efficient products and energy efficiency services to help the country embark on this exciting green and clean journey.
The Indian government has also re-affirmed its focus on energy efficiency, whereby energy efficiency has been positioned as one of the four key pillars for India’s energy future. Given this, Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE’s) vast body of work in different sectors with diverse stakeholders assumes greater significance.
AEEE believes that the private sector can and should be an effective partner of the government in the setting and implementation of the energy efficiency policy agenda and providing concrete and specific inputs related to innovative business models and technological progress that is the strength of private sector. To give traction to this collaboration, AEEE works closely with the private sector, the government, NGOs and other agencies, providing a platform for constructive dialogue towards the making of an energy-efficient India.
It gives me immense pleasure at the start of 2017 to share with you AEEE’s vision and focus, “Enabling an Energy Efficient India” and why I believe there has never been a better time to push for strong policy actions promoting energy efficiency and to help create a multi-billion dollar energy efficiency market in India. AEEE strongly believes that Energy Efficiency is the cheapest, cleanest and fastest response to tackling the imperative of a) clean and sustainable economic development; b) energy security concerns in India; c) reducing CO2 footprint in today’s world.
I look forward to your continued support.
