Telangana Minister for Information Technology, K T Rama Rao, today inaugurated a new Research and Design (R&D) Centre of United Technologies Corporation (UTC), here today. The new center will facilitate the localization of products, supporting the government’s “Make in India” initiative. The research center will house engineers supporting R&D efforts for United Technologies business units including UTC Climate, Controls and Security and Otis.
In the next few years, the 1,51,000-square foot R&D center is expected to add additional talent, further enhancing its position as the biggest center supporting R&D initiatives for UTC Climate, Controls & Security globally. “At United Technologies, innovation is an integral part of the DNA of our all of businesses,” said Dr. J Michael McQuade, Senior vice-president,Science and Technology, United Technologies, on the occasion. “By capitalising on the enormous talent pool available in India, we are sure that Hyderabad Research & Design Centre will continue to expand the United Technologies engineering footprint and support a broad-range of innovative solutions across our HVAC, fire and security, and elevator businesses, said McQuade. Prakash Bodla, executive director, Hyderabad Research & Design Center, said the centre has consistently supported excellent product engineering for UTC’s global building technologies offerings.
The new work-space is designed to further strengthen innovation through open-plan offices, clustered cubicles and silent zones in a neighborhood-like layout to elevate productivity and morale, he said. In its pursuit of delivering greater value and supporting innovation, the Center offers expertise in the development of integrated solutions for building management systems through the use of state-of-the-art technologies to improve workplace efficiency and minimise energy and resource waste.
